How to watch PlayStation State of Play
As always, you can check out Sony’s State of Play event over on its official YouTube channel, but we’ll update this page so you can watch it right here when it arrives. You can also catch it on PlayStation’s Twitch channel. As stated in the PlayStation blog, Sony’s June event will take place on Thursday, June 2 at 3pm PT / 6pm EST / 11pm BST. This time around, the showcase is meant to last over 30 minutes. We’re mainly expecting PSVR 2 coverage, but we’ll also see game reveals from third-party studios and other mystery game trailers.
What to expect at PlayStation’s January State of Play
Sony confirmed there will be over 20 first-party and third-party games available at launch for the PSVR 2. Announced at the 2022 business briefing(opens in new tab) (opens in new tab), PlayStation boss Jim Ryan spoke of a significant investment being made to secure third-party games and first-party exclusives, too. We know Horizon Call of the Mountain, an exclusive new game built from the ground up for the PSVR 2, will be among the launch titles. Better yet, it’s being co-developed by Guerrilla and Firesprite. As for all the other titles, Sony has yet to offer more details on what’s to come. However, we’re getting “a sneak peek at several games in development for PlayStation VR2.” We’re expecting an Astro’s Playroom-type game to show off the PSVR 2’s capabilities, along with a few more first-party exclusives. As for the other third-party titles expected to arrive, only time will tell what’s coming. We would love to get an update on Final Fantasy XVI, or a God of War Ragnarök launch date, but Sony doesn’t specify we’ll be getting any first-party game announcements. We already know a fair bit about the new PlayStation Plus service, but we could see new classic games being revealed. While we wait, you can find out the best PS5 games to play right now, and check out our reviews of Ghostwire: Tokyo and Horizon Forbidden West.
